Founder of Shape House

Sophie is a French-American entrepreneur, sweat activist, and the founder of Shape House. Shape House specializes in infrared treatments, designed to enhance your overall quality of health from the inside out, revolutionizing the way we associate our well-being and fitness, through a spa-like experience. After having gone through an extreme and personal transformation in which Sophie lost 180 pounds, she has dedicated her life to helping others live their life in a detoxed, rejuvenated, state. Sophie has given two highly moving and successful TEDx Talks. She’s been featured for her work with Shape House in multiple publications such as The New York Times, LA Weekly, Huffington Post, ENews, The Daily Show, Buzz Feed, and Entertainment Tonight. Though Sophie’s calling has brought her to the forefront of health and healing, she is also the founder and curator of Lifebyme.com, an inspiring online community dedicated to exploring and closing the gap between what is meaningful and what constitutes our daily lives.

Sophie studied business and journalism in her native city of Paris, France, where she earned her master’s degrees in those subjects before completing a third and final master’s in applied psychology in Los Angeles. Since then, she has written for several renowned international publications, served as an executive coach for high powered corporations, and helped to craft business and social ventures of all shapes and sizes.

Sophie is highly regarded as a leading expert in multiple disciplines encompassing the field of self-improvement. As such, she is frequently sought out as a collaborator and consultant for many innovative businesses on the leading edge of the new generation of health and wellness. She is an expert collaborator and natural networker, continuously connecting with pioneering forces like Arianna Huffington and Charlie Rose, always with the goal of advancing human consciousness. Sophie has given many keynotes and speaking engagements, most notably delivering a presentation at the 2005 International Symposium for Restorative Justice and Peace in Colombia, at the invitation of Desmond Tutu. R&S

What inspired the idea behind Shape House:

Sophie

My own wellness journey. I could see all the good it was doing for me and the few friends of mine daring enough to try at the beginning. I was always inspired to make the needle move forward for those around me, and Shape House was the perfect venue to help a lot of people with my minimum involvement. I liked the efficiency. Deep down, I believe sweating brings people peace… so the more people sweat, the better planet we have.

What are some of the key benefits one can expect from a sweat session:

Sophie

Better sleep, better skin, a sense of being lighter and calmer, less hunger, and less cravings. A holistic sense of better.

What do you love most about your work:

Sophie

People. I get to meet and work with people I would have never met if it wasn’t for Shape House. Our staff, our clients… I get to be a part of people’s lives in such meaningful ways.

R&S

Best tips for living a healthy lifestyle:

Sophie

Staying current. I have processes to make sure I stay current in my thoughts and in what is in my closet. My relationships. And every element in my life. I am slightly obsessed with not holding onto past stuff.

R&S

Share your biggest guilty pleasure:

Sophie

At the moment, white peaches. Ripe. Juicy. It may sound annoying, but I don’t do any substance that alters my state of consciousness. No sugar, coffee, drugs, alcohol… so a white peach is everything. And naps. I love a good nap in the middle of the day.

A secret talent we should know about:

Sophie

I can slow down my heartbeat by breathing and meditating. By a lot. I was a clown in my youth. I can probably still access that. And I ride a Harley. A big one.

R&S

Skincare product you can’t live without:

Sophie

Dry brush. My skin feels so much more alive, vibrant when I use it. It is my favorite thing to do before I take a hot bath. Sometimes it has me sweat in minutes, if I have not sweated that day.

R&S

Your most recent beauty discovery and obsession:

Sophie

Jade and quartz rollers on my face. I keep both in the fridge, so they are chilled when I use them. It tingles and wakes me up. The good kind, although I am told it makes me wince and I look really funny when I am using it.

R&S

Where does your credit card get the most use:

Sophie

Self-care. Almost all of it. Hypnotherapy. Endermology. Healers. Masseuse. And self care gifts for my friends. Delicious fruit at the farmers market. And gizmos for my Harley.

R&S

What’s the most exciting thing in your life right now:

Sophie

Falling in love. Allowing myself to receive in ways I have never received before. Learning to speak to my needs in a loving way. Being clear about what I want. Finding the right way to say what I need to say when something doesn’t work for me. It is super exciting to learn those not so subtle ways to communicate.
