R&S

Describe your role at Harper’s BAZAAR:

Kerry

I am the fashion/features director of the site which means I oversee all fashion content from market stories to video and larger features like our new digital covers!

R&S

What led you to pursue a career in fashion:

Kerry

A passion for fashion! Just kidding, please don’t ever put that term in a cover letter. I grew up loving magazines and obsessed with the supers, but at the end of the day I think I’m more of a story-teller than a full on fashion fanatic. What I like about digital is the different mediums to tell beautiful, interesting stories about and for the fashion space—from articles to galleries to videos.

Best career advice you’ve ever received:

Kerry

No one told me this, but the idea that you should utilize what you’re naturally good at and steer your career path to what you are interested in has been incredibly important to me. I’ve had jobs that didn’t fit and it can be very hard on the psyche!

R&S

Who has had the biggest impact on your career:

Kerry

It’s not one person, but making the switch into digital fashion media in 2008 made all the difference in my career path. I love the immediacy of the internet.

Your most recent fashion discovery and obsession:

Kerry

I have found the white boot—tall, short, high, low—to be a total game-changer. It makes every look feel fresh.

R&S

What’s a trend you predict will catch on this year:

Kerry

I think the ‘80s trend is only going to go more mass. After so many years of athleisure and street-inspired looks, everyone is ready for some glamour. I also find a bold shoulder to be very flattering.

R&S

What apps and gadgets can’t you live without:

Kerry

VSCO, Uber, Instagram (obv), Podcast app, Seamless for lunch, and my phone (sadly).

R&S

What’s the most exciting thing in your life right now:

Kerry

Watching my baby girl Lila Sky become a full-on very funny, exceptionally cute little person.
