Caitlin is a passionate interior designer, wife, and mother to four darling children. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, she grew up with a love for beautiful art and design and started Caitlin Wilson Design in 2007, designing interiors. An internationally known interior and product designer who has trotted the globe from the West Coast to the Middle East. Her work is beloved by the interior editorial world and has appeared in several magazines and books worldwide. Pattern and color are her forte and the foundation on which she designs her signature interiors and home decor products.
In 2008, her husband's job took her overseas for two years where her business continued to grow as she experienced life in London, Dubai, and Hong Kong. She was richly inspired by her travels; the classic patterns of the Middle East and Asia began to fill her head with ideas of textile design. It was while living in Hong Kong that she put her eye for pattern and color to use and began to create textiles in her small studio apartment. She launched Caitlin Wilson Textiles in 2011 online and it has grown into a multifaceted home collection. Caitlin continues to design every product with her team in her Dallas studio and flagship store. It's her intention to always design chic, timeless designs and produce high-quality home decor that’s accessible and fresh.

How did you get started in your career:
Caitlin
When I was designing interiors while we were living overseas, I started working with some workrooms and printers to design some simple textiles because I couldn’t find what I wanted locally for my clients. I launched a small collection of prints and pillows in 2011. What began as pillows and fabric has turned into rugs, wallpaper, furniture and decor—all available on Caitlinwilson.com and at my Dallas flagship store.

Seeing how people live and design with my products. I love that my work and products help people love their homes and make them happier places. I love seeing people get their rugs on Instagram—it’s so thrilling every time! I am so grateful for customers who have supported me over the last eight years in business.

Travel and culture...I love seeing how styles in fashion and design come back full circle and how beautiful details can teach us so much about design. Timeless design usually has a history and a story—and I love getting to learn about them and experience them first hand.

Share some of your best decorating tips and secrets:
Caitlin
Start with your favorite item in the room whether it’s a fabric or a color and prioritize the things you really love. Carry a color from room to room, even a tiny touch of it, so your home feels cohesive and intentionally designed.

What’s a decor trend you predict will catch on this year:
Caitlin
Purple! I think people will catch on to lavender in the same way that blush became a neutral. I love shades of purple especially mixed with navy.

You decompress each day by:

Talking with my husband after dinner and then when I put my kids to bed, I usually lay there and meditate for a few minutes after they fall asleep. I’m also on a running kick right now so I PRE-decompress before my day.

A great pair of high-waisted jeans, a crisp white button-up, Gucci loafers, and a simple gold necklace.

Walk us through a typical work day:
Caitlin
I get my four kids to school or settled into their daily activities and head to work around 9:30, catch up on important emails and start making the rounds with my team. After putting out fires or answering urgent questions, I jump into the creative process whether it’s working on the next collection or rearranging a space in the shop. I try to leave by 3:00 on the days I’m at the office so I can pick up my older kids from school and get them to their various after school activities.
