Talking Top Tens: Elizabeth Scherle

Elizabeth was leading business partnerships at a fashion events startup when she realized there was a lost opportunity where brands weren’t collecting consumer feedback on the products sampled in event gift bags. This prompted her to co-found Influenster, a product discovery and reviews website that facilitates product trial and conversations between brands and social media savvy consumers to help companies populate the digital sphere with user generated content. Elizabeth grew up on a farm outside a 171-person town in Iowa, and currently lives in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Check out Scherle’s LinkedIn and Instagram to find out more about her!

Cocktail of choice:

Champagne with Campari in the summertime, but now that fall is upon us, I’ve switched over to wine, preferably a Barbera.

I would have to say @Society6. It’s an online resource to discover and purchase designs and work from up-and-coming artists. As I’m lately reconnecting with my own artistic roots, this gives me daily inspiration. 

Skincare product you can’t live without (and why):

Makeup remover towelettes. I travel a ton for work so these life savers are always in my bag!

Your motto in life:

Nothing in life comes to you. You have to go out and get it.

The trend you hope never goes out of style:

Big hair (I’m not sure that it is even in style right now!) I have a lot of hair, and whether it’s a straight or curly day, the goal is to have as much volume as possible. One might say that I have a strong relationship with my mousse and diffuser. 

Charity/charities you support:

Now that we’re no longer an early stage startup, we’re on to bigger and better things beyond our everyday operations. I want to be proud of what we do social responsibility-wise. That’s why we launched the Influenster Code Like a Girl scholarship program to raise awareness for the awesome, high-paying, and in demand tech jobs available to women. The program really speaks to our core values of encouraging discovery and conversations. We want to shine light on the lack of representation of women in tech jobs, and encourage more girls to pursue careers in a STEM field! 

The skill or sport you’re dying to learn:

Learning to speak another language! We’re an office with a huge Turk contingent so I bought Pimsleur to learn the Turkish language. The goal is to secretly become fluent so I can understand what they’re saying. 

Your most quirky characteristic:

Hmm, if you’re really close to me, you’ll at some point see me abruptly break out into horrible dance moves (on purpose, of course). Think the Irish jig or Elaine from Seinfeld. The point is to entertain or tease the company present, depending on what they can handle. 

Where does your credit card get the most use?

I love vintage and respect sustainable practices when it comes to clothing - Reformation has that winning formula! The brand’s eco-friendly clothing is true to the vintage look with a modern twist. Their SoHo store is right by my office so I have to be careful about which way I choose to walk home.
