And more with Kate Hakala…

Your greatest achievement:

My greatest achievement is being paid to do what I’ve been dreaming up since I was a little girl. It’s gratifying to know that this is what I do every day. I spread ideas and talk to fascinating people — I’m very grateful.

One piece of advice you would give your 18 year old self:

You should absolutely say “yes” to life more often. Career opportunities, travel, late nights out with friends and strangers. This whole thing is just an experiment.

Midnight snack of choice:

Ice cream. There’s absolutely no contest.

Go-to workout song on your most recent playlist:

Any Outkast song will motivate me to groove and get my butt moving.

At 9am each day, you are…

I’m at my desk in Chelsea, sipping on some yerba mate tea, and mapping out what my team will do for the day.

Your dream dinner party guest:

I’d want to invite Joseph Campbell. Hearing that man speak about the origin of stories seems like it would be a near transcendent experience. I kind of doubt I’d get much eating done.

A secret talent we should know about:

I can twitch my nose like a rabbit. It’s really weird.

The pair of jeans you will never grow tired of.

I won’t ever get tired of my black skinny Levi’s. They’re classic and super flattering on pretty much everyone.

Charity/charities you support:

I support the efforts of Planned Parenthood and donate when I can. Women’s health is something I am incredibly passionate about, and we need greater access to affordable healthcare.

What do you love most about your work?

I love having the freedom to express myself, improve my work, and learn from whip-smart individuals who know the terrain. Also, let’s face it, the ability to talk frankly and openly about human sexuality and its significance is something I could never get sick of.
